Athena Swan Lecture: What does intersectionality look like in research practice and decision making?

SSESW Building
Date(s)
March 12, 2024
Location
The Great Hall, Lanyon Building
Time
09:45 - 12:35

Delivered by Talat Yaqoob FRSE, an independent consultant, social researcher, and award-winning campaigner, and supported by colleagues and students from SSESW, the Annual Lecture will provide an
opportunity for us to engage collectively in issues relating to gender equality and intersectionality.

Whilst the term intersectionality is being utilised more within the research and social policy landscape, it is still often dismissed, diluted or demonised. We will discuss and consider how we can use intersectional approaches to pursue research and decision-making that can deliver a fairer society for those most marginalised as a consequence on systemic injustice.
