More information

Launched in 2007, Belfast Mela, was created to celebrate our diversity and provide a shared, inclusive space for all communities to express their own cultural identity. Mela is now one of Northern Ireland’s largest arts festivals bringing together music, dance, arts and food from across the world to celebrate our city’s proud cultural diversity.

The Mela Carnival returns for its third year as it weaves its way through the heart of the city centre in a fabulous fusion of colour, music and dance. The 800+ carnival parade will make its way from Writers Square, culminating in a global pop-up village at City Hall.

Mela Day transforms Botanic Gardens into a magical global garden filled with the sights, sounds and aromas of nations right around the world. Music, dance, arts and culture come together to create a heady, good humoured atmosphere which invites the world into the heart of our city.
