Welcome to the Graduate School
Students from the Tezpur University arrive at Queen's University Belfast.
Under a Memorandum of Agreement with Tezpur University, the second cohort of 7 PhD students started their programmes here at Queen’s in April and May of this year, 6 within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) and one within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS). The existing cohort of 7 EPS students undertook Mentor training in February to help the new cohort settle into life at Queen’s.
While the majority of these students are based in Belfast, they are managed by a Supervisory Team that includes a Joint External Supervisor based in Tezpur. Both cohorts are supported and co-ordinated through the Postgraduate Research Solutions Centre (PGRSC), based in The Graduate School.
Students from both cohorts were welcomed to the Graduate School by Professor Margaret Topping, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Graduate Studies, Dean of the Graduate School and Co-Ordinator of the Tezpur Programme. Professor Topping said,
“We are delighted to welcome our second cohort of PhD students from Tezpur. Our partnership with Tezpur is very important to us at Queen’s, and we look forward to supporting this new group of researchers as they develop as subject experts who are extending knowledge in their fields, but also as a multi-disciplinary cohort who are able to collaborate with one another and with the wider postgraduate community at Queen’s. We wish the cohort all the very best as they embark on this next challenging stage in their academic journey, and as they gain new personal and professional skills to make them future-ready.”
