On 28 and 29 November Prof. Fiona Magowan, Prof. Pedro Rebelo and Dr. Stefanie Lehner presented key issues on sound, music and socially engaged practices in the third major event in the interdisciplinary PaCCS (AHRC) research project, ‘Sounding Conflict: From resistance to reconciliation’ (2017-2021). Organised through the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute, and hosted in conjunction with the Sonic Arts Research Centre and Queen’s Film Theatre, this ‘two-day ‘Sounding Conflict Symposium’ brought together academics with arts, music and drama practitioners to explore how sound, music and storytelling variously inform narratives and experiences of conflict from around the globe and can promote and sustain pathways to peace.
