Christianity, Politics and Reconciliation in Zimbabwe
Dr Joram Tarusarira, director of the University of Groningen's Centre for Religion, Conflict and the Public Domain, gave a masterclass for students on the Mitchell Institute's MA in Conflict Transformation and Social Justice on "Christianity, Politics and Reconciliation in Zimbabwe" on Tuesday 30 October. Tarusarira has conducted extensive fieldwork on religious organisations which have challenged the injustices of Zimbabwe's democratisation process, evaluating their significance and their ability to contribute to social change and social justice in trying political circumstances. The results of his research have been published in a monograph, Reconciliation and Religio-Political Non-Conformism in Zimbabwe (Routledge), as well as in academic journals.
Tarusarira also offered up-to-date analysis of the current political situation in Zimbabwe and the challenges facing the country.
