Privy Council Notes:
- Informal reference of bill not recorded in PC 2.
First referred by the EPC on 29 Oct. 1695. See also order of 6 May 1697. First engrossed by the EPC on 12 July 1697.
The bill was again referred on 11 May 1697, and approved with amendments on 12 July 1697. On its return however it was found that the amendments made it entirely unacceptable in Ireland. See Methuen to Shrewsbury, 30 July 1697 (HMC 45 Buccleuch ii, p. 513) as to why the bill was unacceptable in Ireland. It was presented to the lords on 31 July, given a 1st reading but on 3 Aug. was ordered to lie on the table. On 3 Aug. the bill was transmitted again by the Irish lords justices and privy council (SP 63/359, f. 96). It was referred informally to the attorney general, and on 17 Aug. 1697 it was approved by the EPC without amendment. On return to Ireland it was again laid before the lords on 30 Aug. 1697, and was subsequently enacted.
