'Upon reading this day at the board a report from Mr Attorney and Solicitor General upon the petition of the mayor, commonality and citizens of the city of London, governors of the possessions, revenues and goods of the hospitals of Edward, king of England the sixth of Christ's Bridewell and St Thomas the Apostle, complaining against a bill transmitted from Ireland for applying the surplus profits of the lands and tenements given by Erasmus Smith, esquire, to charitable uses towards the support and maintenance of a mathematical school and schoolmaster in the city of Dublin and other charitable uses in that kingdom, one moiety of which surplus, the said petitioners claimed as being by the said Erasmus Smith, esquire, by indentures of lease and release dated the 20th and 21st of July 1680 directed to be paid to the said petitioners and their successors, forever to be employed for the better improvement of the mathematical lecture in Christ's Hospital, London, which report was made pursuant to her majesty's pleasure, specified by Mr Secretary Boyle, the 1st of this instant August. her majesty in council taking the whole matter into consideration was pleased to order that the said bill which was approved and passed at this board the 25th of the last month be, and it is hereby, rejected, and that the right honourable the lord high treasurer of Great Britain is to take notice hereof and not pass the said bill under the great seal notwithstanding her majesty's former order of this board of the 25th of July last.'
