Privy Council Notes:
- 'Upon reading this day at the board the report from Mr Attorney and Mr Solicitor General upon the act lately transmitted from Ireland entitled An act for explaining and amending an act to prevent the further growth of popery.
The first amendment thereto was not approved of. Her majesty in council is pleased to order and it is hereby ordered by her majesty in council that the further consideration of the said bill and the other amendments proposed be referred back to Mr Attorney General and Mr Solicitor General upon the debate of the board, and they are also to consider the particular cases referred to them and which have been this day read at this board, and how far protestants may be affected by the said bill; and they are to attend the lord chancellor and my Lord Chief Justice Holt, and then report it to her majesty in council the next council day.' B.L., Add. MS 61633, f. 190. George Dodington to [Sunderland], 14 Aug. 1707. Parliament adjourned. Sends list of bills which have passed both houses and will soon be sent to England. Recommends public bills, 'believing them to be consistent with the dependence of this kingdom on the crown of Great Britain. And if in anything they differ from the laws and customs of England, it is in cases that require a peculiar remedy and proper for the circumstances of this country...'.
