Privy Council Notes:
- ‘And a petition of the Roman Catholics of Ireland against the three following bills vizt.: … 3 Relating to popish solicitors.' 18 Jan. 1731[2]. (PC 2/91, p. 542).
Committee ‘this day took into consideration .... And also a letter from the lord lieutenant and privy council of that kingdom relating thereto, and heard counsel upon the petitions of the Roman Catholics against the said bill, and thereupon ordered Mr Attorney and Solicitor General (who were present) should take the said bill back to reconsider the same and make such alterations therein as they should think necessary.’ 21 Jan. 1731[2]. (PC 2/91, p. 562).
Committee reports that they ‘have met and considered of two bills’ ... ‘and have also heard counsel in support of the said bills as likewise in behalf of the Roman Catholics of Ireland against the same and do thereupon agree humbly to report to your majesty as their opinion that both the said bills are proper to be passed with some alterations, vizt.:’
