In Feb 2024 CSE hosed a group of 9 Croatia history teachers on a study tour of NI to explore issues relating to history teaching pedagogy in divided societies. The trip was facilitated through the British Embassy in Croatia and included meetings with CSE colleagues and visits to an integrated post-primary school and schools involved in shared education partnerships. Prof Joanne Hughes and Prof Ruth Leitch met with the group in Croatia prior to the visit to undertake some preparatory work in advance. The visit to Croatia was also an opportunity to learn about the work of NGOs there in dealing with conflict legacy issues, including the representation of history through the curriculum and public memorial.
