Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP) Regional Policy Forum

10th of December 2025

On the 10th of December 2025, the Q-IEL hosted the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP) Regional Policy Forum. This was an opportunity for CITP researchers to present and discuss their research in various areas of UK trade policy and law. The first panel focused on the law, politics and economics of operation of the UK internal market. Prof Michael Gasiorek (Sussex) discussed GN-NI tarde flows in the context of the Windsor Framework, Dr Viviane Gravey (Q-IEL) presented her and Prof Ludivine Petetin’s (Cardiff) paper on the UKIMA and the Deposit Return Schemes whilst Professor Emily Lydgate (sussex) examined the evolution of agri-fod regulation in the UK post-Brexit.

The second panel focused on the UK’s external trade policy. Dr Lisa Claire Whitten (Q-IEL) presented her ongoing research on the intersection between UK FTAs and devolved matters, Dr Gioele Figus (Strathclyde) explored the regional impact of UK FTAs whilst Prof Ingo Borchert (Sussex) looked at value of deep services trade agreements and digital trade policy.

The panels were followed by a hugely informative stakeholder engagement meeting where Northern Ireland representatives from the public and private sector as well as civil society actors were able to explain and discuss challenges and opportunities presented by Northern Ireland’s post-Brexit trade regime.
