Strengthening Global Legal Connections: CUPL Delegation Visits Queen’s School of Law
Fostering collaboration and exploring shared expertise in legal education, ethics, and professional practice.
On 14 November 2024, the School of Law was delighted to welcome Xu Shenjian, Dean of the School of Juris Master, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), Liang Min, the Vice Dean, Ye Ningyao and Wu Di, lecturers of the School of Juris Master, and Cao Huiqun, Secretary of Foreign Affairs. This visit followed Professor Joan Loughrey's, head of the School of Law at Queen’s, visit to CUPL last year, and it was an opportunity to explore further avenues for collaboration between the two schools.
The delegation met with colleagues from our G-IPTech Centre and Centre for International Economic Law, and Private and Commercial Law Thematic cluster alongside colleagues in the Faculty and School responsible for internationalisation.
The day concluded with a thought-provoking discussion on the legal profession and legal ethics with Professor Xu, who is a leading expert in legal ethics in China, and Professors Brice Dickson, John Morison, Joan Loughrey and Dr Conor McCormick regarding their work on the legal profession and the judiciary
This visit marked a significant step in deepening the partnership between Queen's School of Law and CUPL. The discussions not only highlighted shared interests in legal ethics and professional practice but also opened new pathways for collaborative research, teaching, and international exchange. By fostering these connections, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to advancing legal scholarship and preparing students and scholars for the challenges of a globalised legal landscape.
