Supporting Students' Well-being: The Success of Self-Care Boxes for Third-Year Students
A huge thanks to Employability & Student Experience Support Officer Veronika Pavelkova for spearheading this initiative for the second year running.

The final year of university is an exciting yet demanding journey for students. Recognising the challenges faced by third-year students, the School of Law launched an initiative to provide Self-Care Boxes—a small yet meaningful gesture to promote mental health, wellbeing, and resilience during a critical stage of academic life.
The self-care boxes were thoughtfully curated with items aimed at supporting both the mind and body. Students received a variety of uplifting items, such as calming teas, inspirational Post-it notes, handy pocket-size room mist mood boosters' sprays, and even a few indulgent treats to brighten their day. The initiative aimed not only to provide comfort but also to remind students of the importance of taking time for themselves amidst their busy schedules.
Feedback from students has been positive. Many expressed gratitude for the care shown through this initiative, highlighting how much they appreciated being supported during a particularly stressful academic period. One student described the self-care box as “a timely reminder to pause and prioritise my mental health” while another shared that it brought them a sense of encouragement when they needed it most.
By taking this proactive step, the School of Law has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students' overall well-being. The Self-Care Box initiative is a testament to the power of small, thoughtful actions and their ability to make a lasting impact.
Encouragingly, this forms part of a growing importance that QUB increasingly places on the continued championing of self-care. After all, a well-supported student is a successful student.
