Applications open for "Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings"
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings.
This course aims to provide registered nurses working in care homes with a solid foundation in delivering specialised care for older people. The three taught modules focus on advanced practice in gerontology, frailty and healthy ageing. The course is scheduled to commence in September 2024 and conclude in June 2025. It adopts a blended learning approach, with 50% of the course conducted in a classroom setting at QUB and the remaining 50% delivered online. Classes will be held on Wednesdays, from 10am to 1pm (September to December) and from 10am to 4pm (January to May).
The programme is being offered across degree and postgraduate level:
- PgCert Postgraduate course in Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings
- Degree Level Short Course in Nursing course in Nursing Care of the Older Person in Care Home Settings
Please note that all applicants MUST be registered nurses with the NMC, currently working in the care home sector within Northern Ireland and employed by a care home or care home group.
There are currently forty funded places available for this short course (normally priced at £2200 per person). These funded places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to eligible applicants. Given the expected high demand, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Additionally, please note that each individual care home is eligible for a maximum of two funded places (with no limit for nurses in regional/support roles across a care home group).
