QUB School of Nursing & Midwifery staff and students scoop awards at glittering ceremony
The winners of the 2021 Student Nursing Times Awards were announced on 4th November 2021 at a sparkling event at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The awards, which honour student nurses, education providers and mentors, are this year celebrating their 10th anniversary and were back in person after being held virtually in 2020. Out of 21 awards, the School and its students were shortlisted a total of six times.
And the winners are:
- Adult Nursing student Stephanie Craig becomes Student Nurse of the Year in the Adult Nursing Category
- Adult Nursing student Ryan Cahoon won the Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs category
- QUB School of Nursing and Midwifery won the Best Student Experience category
Professor Donna Fitzsimons, Head of School, attended the ceremony and accepted the award for Best Student Experience. She said: "Last night's awards were the culmination of years of very hard work from our staff and students, and I couldn't be more proud of the QUB Nursing and Midwifery family today. Each and every one of the nominees has put their heart and soul into improving the quality of life for their patients, for their students and for their colleagues, and it is wonderful to see that dedication acknowledged and celebrated. Amidst all the challenges that nurses and student nurses are facing at the moment, these awards testify to the excellence and capability within our team. Amidst stiff competition, Queen's are thrilled to receive not one, but three of these prestigious awards - thank you Nursing Times!"
