New Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery appointed
The School of Nursing and Midwifery are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Kenda Crozier as the new Head of School.
Professor Kenda Crozier PhD, MSc, BSc, RN, RM, SFHEA
Kenda Crozier joined Queens University Belfast on 19th August 2024 as Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Previously she was Dean of the School of Health Sciences at University of East Anglia and chaired the East of England Council of Deans of Health group and was a member of the management group for NIHR Applied Research Consortium in East of England. Kenda’s previous leadership roles at UEA have included Associate Dean for Post Graduate Research and Head of the Faculty of Medicine and Health graduate school and International Director for health sciences. Her international links in South East Asia and in the Middle East have focused on educational initiatives including student wellbeing and curriculum development in nursing and midwifery as well as leadership in health professions’ education. In 2023 she along with colleagues from UEA and 4 universities in Vietnam led a ‘sustainability in health education’ project funded by the British Council, Vietnam. Her research interests include maternal mental health, midwifery ways of working and leadership. She has authored a number of textbooks for students and educators of midwifery and nursing and adapted and led the introduction of the collaborative learning in practice (CLiP) model for midwifery education in England. Most recently she was commissioned by Health Education England to develop a Capabilities Framework for Advanced Practice in Midwifery and associated education and career pathways guidance for NHS England.
