Student graduates in tribute to her special friend
Sarah graduated yesterday, after finding a very special way to pay tribute to her beloved dog, Bailee.
“I began my final year of BSc Psychology in September 2019. Life was good, I had everything; a good job, dating someone, good volunteering opportunity at my local hospital. I was happy.
"Not for long, as by December, my life was flipped upside down. My best friend of 12 years, since I was eight years old, a beautiful golden Labrador retriever, Bailee, became terminally ill and had to be put to sleep. The next three months were the lowest of my life to date.”
But Sarah managed to turn a negative into a positive and, inspired by Bailee, she based her final year thesis on canine research.
“I openly dedicate my thesis to Bailee, and my success to myself and what I have overcome. I want others to know, especially those who are going through a tough time, whether it be mental health or grief; it will get better. Turn your grief into power.”
Sarah Wilson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from QUB - School of Psychology.
Congratulations Sarah!
