Professor Carol McGuinness – Great Hall Portrait Unveiling
The School of Psychology was delighted to work with Queens Gender Initiative (QGI) to arrange a portrait of the first female Professor of Psychology in Ireland – our now retired colleague Professor Carol McGuinness.
Despite COVID’S obstacles, Carol and award-winning artist Jennifer Trouton were able to complete the portrait in time for an unveiling in the University’s Great Hall this past June. The unveiling brought together many of Carol’s former colleagues from the School of Psychology and more widely across the University and beyond. It was an opportunity to celebrate Carol’s outstanding contribution to the University, the QGI project and the disciplines of both Psychology and Education. The portrait can now be viewed in the Great Hall as part of the University’s Visionary Women portrait project.
