Award Recognizing Sustained Excellence

Congratulations to School of SSESW tutor Dr Federica Ferrieri who has been honoured with a Queen’s University Teaching Award in the Sustained Excellence Category. Federica has been a language tutor in our Open Learning Programme and coordinator for innovative engagement projects with SSESW colleague Tess Maginess. Federica is a Civic Officer in the University’s Directorate for Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility. The citation accompanying her prestigious award reads:
‘This Teaching Award is presented to a tutor in the Open Learning Programme who employs a wide range of teaching approaches to meet the needs of non-traditional student groups, including mature learners, prison inmates and migrant communities. Her highly student-centred approach involves co-designing appropriate and innovative curricula that are effective, empowering and inspiring for her diverse range of students.’
