The BAME Career Seminar Series Event
The BAME Career Seminar Series event is an initiative designed for both students and staff from ethnic minority backgrounds (i.e., BAME) at Queen’s and the second edition was hosted on 24 April 2024. The initiative was created in response to the challenges BAME students and staff (those in temporary positions) face, such as securing a good job and understanding which job to apply for, which can be overwhelming.
We took advantage of the growing population of BAME students and staff at Queen’s, coupled with QUB’s sincere commitment as an avenue to address and mitigate the concerns and anxieties of both students and staff from BAME backgrounds. Well-experienced professionals who were leaders in their respective professions shared their insights, experiences, and guidance to inspire and empower the participants in their career journey during the event.
We recorded a huge success in the 2024 BAME event due to the generous support from the iRISE Network and other networks and units at Queen’s. The last event has created a wide range of channels of networking and collaboration for the participants as we continue receiving feedback from them.
