VOYPIC’s Care Day Awards hosted in Queen’s Great Hall

Care Day provides a special day each year for children and young people with lived experience of care. For Care Day 2024 on 16th February, VOYPIC (Voice of Young People in Care) held an awards ceremony in Queen’s Great Hall, hosted by the Centre for Child, Youth and Family Welfare, and the Queen’s Widening Participation Unit. The Awards recognised care experienced young people who have had a significant achievement, or who have made a contribution to their community. It was a very special evening of music and food and celebration, compered by BBC’s Mark Simpson and made complete with fire jugglers and a red-carpet photoshoot. CCYFW’s Karen Winter presented an award, and centre director Mandi MacDonald welcomed everyone to the event, thanking VOYPIC young people and staff for all the ways they have collaborated with Centre members on research and teaching. A massive congratulations to all the award winners – including the Data Research Advisory Group (DRAG) working with our own Sarah McKenna at the Administrative Data Research Centre, who were highly commended for their community contribution.
