£500,500 awarded to the Prisons Memory Archive
The Prisons Memory Archive, in partnership with the Public Records Office NI, has been awarded £500,500 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to make 300 hours of audiovisual recordings available under the headings of Preservation, Accessibility and Engagement. This three year plan will make publicly available 175 walk-and-talk interviews with those who passed through the prisons - including prison staff, prisoners, probation officers, tutors, visitors, chaplains and artists. As an example of storytelling from conflict, the PMA is a unique record that employs the protocols of co-ownership, inclusivity, and life-storytelling.
