Celebrating Young Female Entrepreneurs from EEECS on International Women's Day
We celebrated International Women's Day this year on the 5th of March 2024, with an inspiring conversation with young female entrepreneurs from our School of EEECS.
We had Vicky Potts in conversation - Vicky is a Queen’s graduate and the co-founder of Whitepot Studios. Whitepot Studios was established in 2016 and is an award-winning games development studio.
Also in conversation were Emma Stephenson, Caitlin Mone, Lauren Fegan, Zara Wilson and Kathryn Morrison from Feminatech. These five young female engineers are now in their final year of study at QUB and are committed to using their skills to improve female healthcare, supporting women through menopause and to bridge the gender data gap.
Feminatech have won pitches at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards and the BelTech conference. They have also received funding from QUB Dragons' Den and Catalyst's 2023 INVENT competition.
The guest speakers shared their inspiration that led them to start their entrepreneurial journeys. We are thankful to the guest speakers for sharing their strategies against barriers they faced and their valuable advice for the future generation of computer scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs that they met over a pizza lunch.
The event concluded with AR/VR games, including Ho Ho Home Invasion, developed by Whitepot Studios.
