Elida graduated with a BA in Psychology (Hons) in 2003 and in 2005 completed her MA degree in Gender and Psychology in Malaysia. In 2014, Elida was awarded the Graduate Teaching Assistant Scholarship for her PhD at the Department of Psychology, Edge Hill University examining return migration following the economic crisis in Europe. She has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Psychology core courses and has obtained the Associate fellow status with HEA (UK) in 2016.

Elida’s research interests are interdisciplinary crossing the fields of migration studies and psychology. She is broadly interested in studying migrant children and adults, their adjustment processes, practices of inclusion and exclusion, identity and wellbeing. In her PhD on return migration, Elida has examined the experiences of return migrants and their children in Albania, following the economic crisis and the ways they reconstruct a sense of belonging upon return.

Before beginning her PhD, Elida has conducted comparative research on gender role attitudes among women from three ethnic groups in Malaysia. She also held two research assistant positions in other disciplines. Elida is a qualitative researcher and has a particular interest in using creative methods in researching children and young people.
