Lisa graduated with a BSc Psychology from Queen's University Belfast in 2010, and obtained her PhD in Health Psychology in 2018.

Lisa has a research interest in quality of life in patients receiving palliative and end of life care and their family carers, having been the Research Lead at Marie Curie Northern Ireland from 2015-2018.  In this role Lisa was involved as a co-investigator/collaborator on a number of research programmes in the specialist palliative care setting led by QUB, Ulster University and other UK Universities, including multi-centre research programmes and clinical trials of interventions. Lisa maintains an interest in measurement with current work around validation of quality of life outcome measures and distress screening, and plans to continue collaborating on research around intervention development. Lastly, Lisa has been involved in research around building resilience in palliative care healthcare professionals and volunteers and hopes to pursue this interest at QUB.

Lisa’s second research interest area is the management of late and longer-term effects in post-treatment cancer survivors. Lisa is especially interested in psychological adjustment, and her work to date has focused on Upper GI cancer. Lisa’s PhD research involved the application of mixed-method designs towards understanding longitudinal change in psychological adjustment over time, in particular the role of modifiable psychosocial variables such as illness beliefs as predictors of outcome.
