Anoop is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at School of Psychology QUB as part of the project "Developing Digital Phenotyping to Predict At Risk Mental States'' led by Dr. Donncha Hanna (Reader, School of Psychology), Dr. Deepak Padmanabhan (Senior Lecturer, School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and Dr. Anna Jurek-Loughrey (Senior Lecturer, School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). Anoop completed his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Calicut, India in May 2023. His PhD thesis is entitled "TEXTUAL AFFECT: A Computational Study Towards the Detection, Utility, and Algorithmic Fairness of Emotions in Text''. He completed his Master of Philosophy from the University of Calicut, India, and Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Farook College, Kerala, India.
Anoop has won the Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR) award 2019 for Best Popular Science Stories from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India in 2019. His research interests primarily focus on understanding and developing emotionally intelligent algorithms, exploring the existence of algorithmic unfairness, especially in large language models or large-scale data greedy AI algorithms, and also other research areas such as Fake News Detection, Natural Language Processing, Digital Image Processing, Data Science and Machine Learning. He is very much interested to work in interdisciplinary areas where the branch of Computer Science bridges the theme of Social Good and Human Wellbeing. Anoop is very much excited to join as the new postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Psychology, QUB.
Beyond research, Anoop enjoys photography, reading books, writing, yoga, and drawing.
