Cardiac Research Group (CRG) Success at the INCA Annual Scientific Meeting 2024
Members of the CRG from the SNAM, QUB experienced various achievements at the recent Irish Nurses Cardiovascular Association Annual Scientific Meeting.
Representatives of our CRG within the SNAM attended the INCA Annual Scientific Meeting on the 17th October 2024 at the Europa Hotel Belfast. This fantastic conference was hosted by Professor Pascal McKeown who is currently the outgoing President of the Irish Cardiac Society. Dr Gemma Caughers is Vice President of INCA, and she significantly contributed to the organisation and delivery of this successful event. Dr Caughers and Professor Donna Fitzsimons demonstrated their clinical and academic expertise through chairing different scientific sessions. A prestigious Honorary Fellowship with the Irish Cardiac Society was bestowed upon Professor Fitzsimons, which reflects her exceptional contribution to the field of Cardiology in Ireland. Omar Alrfooh who is a PhD student within the SNAM presented a scientific poster on the results of his study in the field of heart failure and cachexia. Mr John Heatley (PPI member of the CRG) delivered an insightful talk about his experience as a patient with a cardiac condition. Other CRG members in attendance were Dr Gareth Thompson and Waleed Alahmari. The CRG team enjoyed an inspirational discussion with Cathleen (Cathie) Biga who is the current President of the American College of Cardiology.
