Daniel McCabe - Research Assistant
After completing a conversion master's programme, Daniel received a position as a clinical health psychology research assistant upon graduation from the School of Psychology. He is currently employed by the NIHR-funded CHOICE study (Changing Habits to Prevent Child Caries) which focuses on behavioural change techniques in children in favour of better oral health outcomes. He collaborates with academic and public health stakeholders to promote good oral health-related behaviour change in NHS primary care through the novel intervention Dental RECUR, or Brief Negotiated Interview.
His areas of research interest are the design and assessment of psychological and behavioural change interventions, with a focus on the behavioural, emotional, and cognitive changes associated with physical health problems, neurological/neurosurgical injuries/illnesses and neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, illness prevention via promoting behavioural modifications (e.g. lifestyle).
