Welcome to Róisín Keenan
Welcome to Róisín Keenan - Teaching Fellow
Róisín is a movement science researcher who has recently begun her role as a Teaching Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast. She earned her BSc in Psychology from the University of Liverpool, including a semester abroad at the University of Hong Kong. She went on to complete an MSc in Cognitive Science at Umeå University in Sweden, where she deepened her understanding of interdisciplinary approaches to cognition alongside conducting research on wayfinding in virtual environments under conditions of inconsistent or incorrect information.
At Queen’s University Belfast, Róisín completed a doctoral thesis investigating Human-Robot handovers in Virtual Reality. Her research explored how task dynamics and robot movement configurations influence motor control and coordination during virtual tasks, applying principles of movement science within an engineering context.
Beyond her doctoral research, Róisín contributed to the Northern Ireland Cerebral Palsy Register, based in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast and funded through the Public Health Agency. In this role, she implemented efficient new systems for data handling and collaborated on epidemiological research focused on the prevalence and aetiology of Cerebral Palsy in Northern Ireland, in addition to the undertaking of key project operations.
