Dr Emmet McNickle - Research Fellow
Emmet is a research fellow in Dr Kathy Ruddy’s Translational Brain Health Lab. He was awarded his BSc at Queen’s before completing his PhD on brain stimulation and motor systems plasticity at Trinity College Dublin in 2015. Emmet then held a postdoctoral research fellowship at Trinity in the neurophysiology of perceptual decision-making, before undertaking various government statistical roles.
Emmet’s current research focus is on the use of brain-computer interfaces in motor rehabilitation following stroke. He also has ongoing international collaborations on the use of non-invasive brain stimulation in depression, neural markers of balance recovery, and the influence of anxiety in predictive processing. His primary research tools include EEG, EMG and non-invasive brain stimulation.
Emmet has previously taught research methods and statistics for postgraduate and undergraduate cohorts at Trinity College Dublin and is a guest lecturer on the Behavioural Neuroscience Methods module at Dublin City University.
