The School of Psychology Welcomes Phoebe McKenna-Plumley
Phoebe McKenna-Plumley - Research Fellow
Phoebe is currently working as a Research Fellow as part of the team on the Royal Society of Chemistry-funded project “Somewhere over the rainbow: Investigating presence, perceptions, and engagement with LGBTQ+ inclusion symbols in STEM departments in the UK and US”, led by Dr Ioana Latu.
Her research employs quantitative, qualitative, and evidence synthesis methodologies to understand social wellbeing and related topics. Prior to this role, Phoebe conducted her ESRC-funded PhD research in the School of Psychology at QUB, which focused on loneliness across the lifespan and was supervised by Dr Jenny Groarke, Professor Rhiannon Turner, and Dr Keming Yang. She previously completed her BA in Psychology at the National University of Ireland, Galway (now University of Galway) and Masters in Social Science Research at QUB. She has held research assistant roles at the University of Galway and the University of Padua, Italy. Phoebe also co-runs the Early Career Loneliness Research Network and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
